Carambola is a Latin-oriented project featuring violinist Benito Cortez, guitarist Michael McMorrow, and percussionist Steve LaPorta. Our goal is to play acoustic Latin music with passion, rhythmic intensity and nuance -- and have fun doing it!  We perform in many different styles including Bossa Nova, Samba, Choro, Calypso, Bachata, and Bolero.

Michael brought his jazz guitar stylings to local lounge favorites Project Pimento, and has since developed a more Latin sound as a soloist and with his band Apocalypso Now. Michael also performs on steel drum. He currently performs and tours with fado singer Ramana Vieira.

SF Bay Area percussionist Steve LaPorta performs and tours regularly with fado singer Ramana Vieira and the band Vortex Tribe.
